Steven Johanson has advised students on the university admissions process for twelve years, first starting in admission for Ohio Wesleyan University before returning to Memphis at Memphis University School. He then moved to Dubai, working at GEMS Dubai American Academy before joining his current school United World College Costa Rica. Steven is deeply passionate about advising students, especially high-achieving, low-income students motivated to change the world. Steven’s educational background has been a journey through different opportunities in much the same way as his students. After entering undergraduate pre-veterinarian, he graduated from Rhodes College with a Bachelors in Political Science and Greek and Roman Studies. Years later, he completed a Masters in Education from Vanderbilt University and his International School Counseling Certificate from the University of San Diego. Steven sees Second Chance as an amazing opportunity to utilize his skill sets to advise and advocate for students who need help creating the futures they deserve.
